who care for one another and bring God’s love into a broken world”
Discipleship Groups are the heartbeat of our church community. This is the place where we truly connect together and grow in our discipleship to Jesus. It's a place to experience authentic community, friendship and learn together about how to practice the way of Jesus. We encourage everyone that sees Vineyard Groningen as their (temporary) home church to become part of a group.
In order to provide an optimal setting for community and growth, our basic structure for Discipleship Groups is a hybrid model of groups and triads. This means that most groups would meet bi-weekly with the whole group (6-12 people) and bi-weekly in triads (3-4 people). Where the bigger group setting provides a place to experience community and discuss the Bible, the triads provide a more intimate setting, ideal for sharing, authenticity and accountability. Each group will find its own way to do this well, and adjust the frequency of their meetings to the situation of the group.
There is a variety of groups available. Some groups consist largely of students, others are more aimed at young professionals or families, or people in other stages of life. Others are a mix of all of the above.
Twice a year, in the Fall and Spring, we run a message series of about 8-10 weeks focusing on discipleship. These message series will provide the main discussion material for the groups. Each week, the groups will receive prepared material, directly connected to Sunday’s message providing discussion questions to help digest and apply Sunday’s message. After the 8-10 weeks of the message series, all groups can choose their own topic to discuss for their meetings.
